Crystal Swing comprises Mary Murray-Burke and her son and daughter, Derek and Dervla Burke.

Since their appearance on Rural TV's 'Hot Country' show in January, 2010, the band has become an international hit - their website and YouTube videos attracting over a million hits, to date, from across the globe, while Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites are all in animated discussion about the band.

The band has also been a hot topic on both Irish national and local radio and press, while their appearance on Ireland's flagship TV programme, RTÉ's The Late Late Show, on Friday 12/3/2010 is the highlight of the band's career to date in Ireland.

When top US TV chat show host and American Idol judge, Ellen DeGeneres found them on the internet she liked them immediately. She blogged about the band and featured it on her St. Patrick's Day celebratory video on 17/3/2010 - link.

No doubt the pinnicale of Crystal Swing's success to date was their live appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recorded in Hollywood on 8/4/2010 and which aired on 12/4/2010. After an interview with Ellen and a performance of 'He Drinks Tequila', Derek did his trademark Hucklebuck - moving through the audience and dancing with Ellen. The band went down a storm with the American audience who gave them two standing ovations.

Since their return from Hollywood, the band has undertaken an extensive tour of the major venues in Ireland with a top class, five-piece band and support acts and has sold out shows across the length and breath of the country. An appearance in their own Cork Opera House was a highlight of course as well as their second appearance on The Late Late Show on 21/5/10 to perform their new single, 'The Hucklebuck'.

On 14th June 2010 Crystal Swing were honoured with a Civic Reception by Midleton Town Council something which was totally unexpected but greatly appreciated. "This means more than anything", Mary stated, "I never dreamed we’d be honoured like this, and I’m truly humbled to be here tonight". Click for more.

Since then Crystal Swing have continued to tour and as well as their many other public appearances, recorded an episode of 'Living with Lucy' for RTÉ television which features popular host, Lucy Kennedy's three-day stay with the band. Click for more.

Derek was also selected as one of eight Celebrity managers for RTÉ television's popular programme, Celebrity Bainisteoir, which sees the bainisteoiri (managers) take charge of gaelic football teams from around the country in a knock-out competition. Derek's team, Castleisland Desmonds, made it all the way to the final which they won by a single point in a nail biting finish. Click for more.
